MY BIOGRAPHY AND BACKGROUND
My real name is Natalie Hauge, and I'm a 24-year-old from Mount Zion, Illinois. During junior and senior year of high school, I took a vocational class in digital entreprenuership from Heartland Technical Academy at Richland Community College before getting my Associate's Degree In Arts there. At Millikin University, I am studying for my Bachelor's Degree as an Arts Tech Video Production major. In Heartland, I was educated about Adobe Premiere Pro and received the Student of the Quarter Award one semester.
Many of my past teachers, even one from elementary school and one from grade school, remembered me by and credited me with my ability to think outside the box when it comes to projects. I won an award for having the best piece of artwork in my grade, even though I was told otherwise that it was best in school. I've always had better relationships with my teachers than with my peers, as seen by my voice acting collaborations on YouTube being put together by my teachers' voices. But despite the praise from teachers, I've always described myself as "the invisible girl" at school, as in being regarded by all my peers as the single weirdest and most unpopular kid in school. I've always been an introvert, but I've also struggled with social anxiety disorder. In my elementary school, I was always the fastest reader in my class. We did "popcorn reading" where one kid pauses and chooses the next kid to continue reading. Because of my status in school, I was always chosen last to read, and it was so frustrating to have the fewest sentences to read and to be read to by other kids who cannot read. Nobody knew how much I went to the library and read (nonfiction) as a kid. However, everyone did know me as the fastest computer typer in grade school. From day one, I've always loved animals. Imitating animals during recess definitely contributed to my unpopularity in school, but I was reading giant animal encyclopedias at age seven. I would go to a zoo and know all the animals the adults with me never heard of. I also collected Zoobooks and still have them. But along with reading books, I spent a lot of my childhood researching animals online and playing around with Wikipedia. Because of this excessive computer use, I inadvertently learned to type long before any of my peers. And that computer use also led to my love for making videos. Like many YouTubers, it all started with filming cat and pet videos. Over time, I realized that the audio-visual field and the film industry were where I wanted my future to go. Initially I wanted an animal-based career path, but during junior high, I began shifting to wanting to make animal-based videos and movies.
my strange obsession is collecting plastic animals
I love reptiles!
When I started YouTube in 2013, I chose "NatsJungle2000" to be my brand name. The word, "jungle," was meant to be a more interesting way of titling, "miscellaenous animal-based content." I wanted to post random videos about pets, zoo animals, and animal-based video games. And I was using Windows Movie Maker way back then. And then once I began reading the Warriors book franchise in high school, it got me more into creating animation. I got into watching warrior cat animations on YouTube. Despite being allergic, I've always been a big cat lover. Although, if people ask me what my favorite animal is, "cat" is a pretty boring answer, so I say "cheetah." I've always seemed to look for any excuse to incorporate cats into my stories and YouTube projects. A lot of people my age - maybe most - who want to work in film are into film because they are movie junkies and love watching movies all the time. Despite watching Disney films all the time as a little kid, I'm different because between excessive computer use for animal research, documenting my time volunteering at a zoo, playing animal-based video games, and reading and watching the Warriors book franchise, my interest in film stemmed from my love for animals. And not suprisingly, most animated films have animals in them, so it's no wonder I prefer animated films over live-action films. I want to work in film not because I love movies but because I love animals.
It might sound strange that the only two genres I like are horror and kid-friendly animation, but Don Bluth is the filmmaker who inspired me. My dream is creating dark-themed animated stories disguised as children's stories. I feel like it kind of represents who I am. I have a very childish side to me despite being 24. I still collect plastic animals and stuffed animals like I did as a kid. I'm even obsessed with playing claw machines. As a tomboy, I only like to wear logo T-shirts and tennis shoes; nothing formal. The only songs I listen to are Disney songs; along with film scores and video game scores. And at the same time, only horror catches my attention with live-action films. By adding content too scary and/or dark for kids to animation, it better justifies my heavy preference for animated films over live-action and removes any shame for being an adult liking things most adults would be embarrassed to admit they like. I am also a strong believer in ghosts. I bizarrely couple together my love for the horror genre and kid-friendly animation. That's not to say I wouldn't enjoy creating live-action horror films as well, though. James Wan is my favorite director, and Insidious is my favorite film franchise. In fact, I used Insidious to do several papers and projects across my school and college career.
